Quick Answer

The petrol price in UAE today is AED 4.40 per litre for Super 98, AED 4.28 for Special 95, AED 4.21 for E-Plus 91 and AED 4.80 for diesel. These are the official October 2026 rates, they include 5% VAT, and they are the same in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every other emirate.

Petrol Prices in UAE This Month: October 2026

Here are the official UAE petrol prices for October 2026, with last month’s rates next to them so you can see exactly what changed. The UAE Fuel Price Committee raised every fuel in October, after a year in which prices climbed from around AED 2.50 a litre in February to the highest levels in more than a year.

Fuel TypePrice per Litre (AED)September 2026Change (AED)Change %50 Litre Tank (AED)

E-Plus 914.213.61+0.60▲ +16.6%210.50
Diesel4.804.30+0.50▲ +11.6%240.00

A few things worth knowing about these numbers. First, the price you see is the price you pay: the 5% VAT is already included, and there is no extra charge for the fuel itself at any brand of station. Second, the price is national. ADNOC in Abu Dhabi, ENOC in Dubai and Emarat in the Northern Emirates all charge exactly the same per litre. Third, these rates apply from 1 October to 31 October 2026. The November rates will be announced in the last days of October.

What the October rise costs you: if you fill a 50 litre tank of Special 95 once a week, October costs you about AED 118 more than September did. For a Land Cruiser’s 110 litre tank, one fill-up is AED 64.90 more than last month.

Full Tank Cost for Popular Cars in the UAE

Per litre prices are hard to picture. What most drivers actually feel is the cost of a full tank, so here it is for the cars you see most often on UAE roads, at October 2026 prices. Tank sizes are the manufacturers’ standard figures for the current models sold in the UAE.

CarTank SizeE-Plus 91 (AED)Special 95 (AED)Super 98 (AED)

Nissan Patrol97 litres408.37415.16426.80
Toyota Land Cruiser110 litres463.10470.80484.00

Two things stand out. The first is how much tank size matters: a Land Cruiser driver pays about AED 295 more per fill than a Sunny driver on the same fuel. The second is how little the fuel grade matters by comparison: filling a Corolla with Super 98 instead of E-Plus 91 costs AED 9.50 extra per tank. If your car’s manual only asks for 91 or 95, that is money spent for nothing. More on that in the fuel types section below.

Are Petrol Prices the Same in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?

Yes. There is one national petrol price in the UAE, set once a month, and it applies identically in all seven emirates. The petrol price in Dubai is the same as the petrol price in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain, down to the last fil.

EmirateSuper 98Special 95E-Plus 91Diesel
Dubai4.404.284.214.80
Abu Dhabi4.404.284.214.80
Sharjah4.404.284.214.80
Ajman4.404.284.214.80
Ras Al Khaimah4.404.284.214.80
Fujairah4.404.284.214.80
Umm Al Quwain4.404.284.214.80

This is why driving to another emirate to save on fuel never works in the UAE. What does change your cost is how far you drive: a Sharjah to Dubai commute is roughly 60 to 80 km a day, which at October prices works out at around AED 650 to AED 850 a month in a typical petrol car. It is also why so many commuters compare fuel against the metro and bus fares; our UAE transport guides cover the Nol card, Hafilat and metro options in detail.

UAE Petrol Price History: October 2025 to October 2026

This 13 month history shows why October 2026 feels expensive. For most of late 2025 and early 2026, UAE petrol prices sat between AED 2.26 and AED 2.77 a litre. Then prices jumped hard in April 2026 as regional conflict pushed world oil markets up, spiked again for diesel, dipped in July, and climbed every month since. Special 95 is up about 61% compared with October last year.

November 20252.632.512.442.67
October 20252.772.662.582.71

The cheapest month in this period was February 2026, when E-Plus 91 cost AED 2.26 a litre and a 50 litre tank of Special 95 cost AED 116.50. That same tank costs AED 214.00 today. If you search for older rates, such as the petrol price in UAE in September 2022 or April 2022, remember those were the record high months after the global energy shock of 2022, when Super 98 briefly went above AED 4.50 a litre. October 2026 is the closest prices have come to those levels since.

Petrol Price in UAE Next Month: When Will It Be Announced?

The November 2026 petrol prices will be announced in the last one or two days of October, and they will apply from 1 November. This is the pattern every month: the Fuel Price Committee meets at the end of the month, the new rates are published by the fuel companies and the national newspapers, and from midnight on the 1st every pump in the country charges the new price.

Nobody outside the committee knows next month’s price in advance, and anyone who claims to is guessing. What you can watch is the average price of Brent crude during October: the committee’s formula follows international fuel prices across the month, so a month of rising oil usually means a rise at the pump, and a falling month usually means a cut. October’s sharp rise followed exactly that pattern.

The one practical trick: if oil has risen all month and a price increase looks likely, fill your tank on the last day of the month at the old price. If oil has fallen, wait until the 1st and fill at the new, lower price. On a big tank the difference can be AED 30 to AED 65.

How UAE Fuel Prices Are Decided

Until August 2015, fuel in the UAE was subsidised and the price almost never changed. The government then deregulated fuel prices, and ever since they have been set monthly by the UAE Fuel Price Committee, which is led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and includes the country’s fuel retailers.

The committee’s formula tracks the average international price of refined fuel over the month, then adds the local costs of transport, distribution and operation. Because the dirham is fixed to the US dollar, there is no currency effect to worry about: when dollar oil prices move, the AED price moves with them. The 5% VAT, introduced in January 2018, is already included in the price at the pump.

This system is why the petrol price in UAE can sit still for a month even when oil jumps around daily, and why it sometimes moves a lot in a single month: you are paying for the whole previous month’s average, not for one dramatic day.

Fuel Types Explained: Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus 91 and Diesel

The numbers 91, 95 and 98 are octane ratings. Octane measures how much the fuel can be compressed before it ignites on its own. High performance engines compress fuel harder, so they need a higher octane fuel to run properly. Ordinary engines do not, and that one fact decides which fuel your car needs.

Super 98

The premium grade. Super 98 is made for sports cars, luxury cars and high compression or turbocharged engines. At AED 4.40 a litre in October 2026 it is also the most expensive petrol. If your car’s fuel flap or manual says 98, use it. If it does not, you are paying extra for protection your engine cannot use.

Special 95

The standard grade that most cars in the UAE run on, at AED 4.28 a litre. The large majority of Japanese, Korean and American family cars are designed for 95 or below. When people ask about the petrol price in UAE, this is usually the price they mean.

E-Plus 91

The economy grade at AED 4.21 a litre. Many everyday cars, especially older models and most small sedans, run perfectly well on 91, and their manuals say so. The saving against Special 95 is only 7 fils a litre (about AED 3.50 on a 50 litre tank), so plenty of drivers stick with 95 anyway, but on 91 rated cars that money buys nothing extra.

Diesel

At AED 4.80 a litre, diesel is currently the most expensive fuel at UAE pumps, which surprises people who remember when it was cheap. Diesel is used by pickup trucks, commercial vehicles, buses and a smaller number of diesel SUVs. Never put diesel in a petrol car or petrol in a diesel car: a misfuelling mistake can seriously damage the engine and fuel system.

The simple rule: use the lowest octane your car’s manual allows. Higher octane does not clean your engine, does not add power to a regular car and does not improve its fuel economy. It only costs more.

Petrol vs Diesel: Which Costs Less per Kilometre?

Diesel costs more per litre than petrol in the UAE right now, but diesel engines burn fuel more slowly. What matters is the cost per kilometre, and there diesel still wins for high mileage drivers.

Typical Petrol CarTypical Diesel SUV
Fuel price (Oct 2026)AED 4.28 per litre (Special 95)AED 4.80 per litre
Typical fuel use8 litres per 100 km6 litres per 100 km
Cost per 100 kmAED 34.24AED 28.80
Cost per kilometreAED 0.34AED 0.29
Cost over 30,000 km a yearAED 10,272AED 8,640

Over a year of heavy driving, the diesel saves about AED 1,600 in fuel. Against that, diesel models usually cost more to buy, there are far fewer of them to choose from in the UAE, and for low mileage drivers the saving never catches up. For most families a petrol car remains the sensible choice; for businesses running pickups and vans all day, diesel economics are hard to beat. How UAE Fuel Prices Compare with the GCC and the World

The UAE has the most expensive fuel in the GCC, because it is the only Gulf country that fully links its pump prices to international markets every month. Its neighbours still subsidise fuel heavily. Set against the rest of the world, though, UAE petrol is still cheaper than the global average, and cheaper per litre than in the United States.

Qatar0.5770.563

UAE1.1651.310

Pakistan1.4171.430
World average1.6001.670

Figures from GlobalPetrolPrices.com, 12 October 2026 (petrol is the standard 95 octane grade). One comparison surprises many UAE residents: petrol in India, at about US$1.14 a litre, now costs almost the same as in the UAE, and petrol in Pakistan costs noticeably more. The days when visitors from South Asia found UAE fuel dramatically cheap are over, at least while prices stay at October 2026 levels.

How to Spend Less on Fuel in the UAE

You cannot change the petrol price, but you can change how much of it you burn. These are the habits that make a real difference in UAE conditions:

  • Use the right grade. If your manual allows 91, filling with 98 saves the fuel company money, not you. Check the sticker inside the fuel flap.
  • Keep tyres at the correct pressure. Under inflated tyres can add 2 to 3% to fuel use, and UAE heat is hard on tyres anyway. Check monthly, ideally in the morning.
  • Do not idle with the AC on. Ten minutes of idling in summer burns roughly half a litre. If you are waiting more than a couple of minutes, you are paying to go nowhere.
  • Drive smoothly. Hard acceleration and braking on Sheikh Zayed Road can raise fuel use by 15% or more compared with a steady cruise at the speed limit.
  • Combine trips. A cold engine uses much more fuel per kilometre. One combined trip burns less than three short ones.
  • Service on time. A clogged air filter or old spark plugs quietly push consumption up. In dusty UAE conditions, air filters deserve attention at every service.
  • Travel light. Remove the roof box and anything heavy you do not need. Extra weight and roof drag both cost fuel, especially at highway speeds.
  • Time your fill-ups. When a rise is expected at the end of the month, fill up before the 1st; when a cut is expected, wait. See the next month section above.
  • Use the metro for Dubai commutes. For a daily Deira to Jebel Ali or Sharjah border commute, a monthly metro and bus pass can cost less than a week of October priced fuel. Our transport guides explain the Nol card options.

Petrol Stations in the UAE

Four brands operate almost every petrol station in the country. Prices are identical at all of them, so your choice comes down to location and the shop and services attached.

  • ADNOC Distribution is the largest network, dominant in Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates, with its Oasis shops and an app that lets you pay and collect rewards.
  • ENOC, owned by the Dubai government, runs the ENOC and EPPCO brands across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, usually with a Zoom convenience store.
  • Emarat (Emirates General Petroleum Corporation) is the federal retailer, with stations across Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

Most stations offer assisted filling as standard, car washes, oil change bays and convenience stores. Self service is available at many ADNOC stations for drivers who prefer it. Whichever brand you use, the petrol price in UAE is the same that day, everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
What is the petrol price in UAE today?
The petrol price in UAE today is AED 4.40 per litre for Super 98, AED 4.28 for Special 95, AED 4.21 for E-Plus 91 and AED 4.80 for diesel. These are the official October 2026 rates and they apply at every station in the country.
Q
What is the Special 95 petrol price in UAE today?
Special 95 costs AED 4.28 per litre in October 2026, up from AED 3.69 in September. It is the standard grade most cars in the UAE use.
Q
Why did petrol prices go up in October 2026?
UAE prices follow the average international fuel price from the previous month. Oil and refined fuel prices were high through September 2026, continuing a climb that began with the sharp jump in April 2026, so the committee raised every fuel by between 11.6% (diesel) and 16.6% (E-Plus 91).
Q
When do UAE petrol prices change?
Once a month. New prices are announced in the last days of each month and apply from the 1st of the following month at every station in the UAE.
Q
When will the next petrol price in UAE be announced?
The November 2026 prices will be announced in the last one or two days of October 2026 and will apply from 1 November. This page is updated as soon as the new rates are published.
Q
Is the petrol price the same in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Yes. There is a single national price for all seven emirates. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain all charge exactly the same per litre on the same day.
Q
Is VAT included in UAE petrol prices?
Yes. The 5% VAT is already included in the pump price, so the price per litre you see is exactly what you pay.
Q
Which petrol should I use: 98, 95 or 91?
Use the grade your car’s manual or fuel flap sticker specifies. Most family cars are designed for 95 or 91. High performance and turbocharged cars often require 98. Using a higher grade than your car needs does not improve power or economy.
Q
Does Super 98 give better mileage than Special 95?
Not in a car designed for 95. Octane prevents knocking in high compression engines; it does not contain more energy. In a car that requires 98, using 95 can reduce performance and economy, which is the opposite situation.
Q
How much does a full tank cost in the UAE?
At October 2026 Special 95 prices (AED 4.28 per litre): about AED 175 for a Nissan Sunny (41 litres), AED 214 for a Toyota Corolla (50 litres), AED 257 for a Toyota Camry (60 litres) and AED 471 for a Toyota Land Cruiser (110 litres).
Q
How can I calculate my monthly fuel cost?
Multiply your monthly kilometres by your car’s fuel use per 100 km, divide by 100 to get litres, then multiply by the price per litre. Example: 1,500 km at 8 litres per 100 km is 120 litres, which at AED 4.28 costs AED 513.60. Or use the monthly budget calculator on this page.
Q
What was the petrol price in UAE last month?
In September 2026, Super 98 was AED 3.80, Special 95 was AED 3.69, E-Plus 91 was AED 3.61 and diesel was AED 4.30 per litre. The full 13 month history is in the table on this page.
Q
Do ADNOC, ENOC and Emarat charge different prices?
No. Every retailer in the UAE charges the same monthly price per litre for each fuel grade. Brands differ in their shops, services and rewards apps, not in fuel price.
Q
Can I save money by filling up in a cheaper emirate?
No, because prices are identical in all seven emirates. There is no cheaper emirate for fuel anywhere in the UAE.
Q
Why do UAE fuel prices change every month?
Since August 2015 the UAE has not subsidised fuel. Prices are set monthly by the Fuel Price Committee using a formula based on average international fuel prices plus local distribution costs, so UAE drivers pay something close to the real market price.
Q
Is diesel cheaper to run than petrol in the UAE?
Per kilometre, usually yes: a typical diesel uses about 6 litres per 100 km (AED 28.80 at October prices) against about 8 litres for a petrol car (AED 34.24), even though diesel costs more per litre. But diesel cars cost more to buy and choice is limited, so it mainly suits high mileage and commercial drivers.
Q
What was the cheapest petrol price in the UAE recently?
In February 2026, E-Plus 91 fell to AED 2.26 per litre and Special 95 to AED 2.33, the lowest rates of the last 13 months. Prices have risen steeply since then.
Q
Will petrol prices go up or down next month?
Nobody can know for certain. The best guide is the average price of oil during the current month: a rising month usually means a rise at the pump, and a falling month usually means a cut. The confirmed November prices will be added to this page the day they are announced.

Prices on this page are the official UAE retail fuel prices published by the Fuel Price Committee for October 2026 and are updated monthly. International comparison figures are from GlobalPetrolPrices.com (12 October 2026). Always check the current month’s price before a long trip, as rates change on the 1st of every month.
