Emirates Guides is an independent information website about the United Arab Emirates, operated by its founder and editor. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Emirates Guides. You can reach us at any time at [email protected]

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. If you leave a comment on a page, WordPress stores the name, email address and comment you submit, along with your IP address, to operate the comments system and prevent spam.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers record basic technical information when you visit: the pages you open, the time of your visit, your browser type and an approximate location based on your IP address. We use this in aggregate to understand which guides are useful and to keep the site secure. We do not use it to build a profile of you personally.

Live tools

Some of our pages fetch live data — prayer times, weather and gold prices — from third-party data services. When your browser loads one of these pages, it connects directly to those services to retrieve the data, so those services see your IP address, as with any website your browser visits. The calculations themselves (for example, in our fuel cost calculator) happen in your browser; the numbers you type are not sent to us.

Cookies are small files your browser stores for a website. We use them in three ways:

• Essential cookies — set by WordPress and our security tools so the site works and stays protected.
• Analytics cookies — if we run analytics on the site, cookies help us count visits and see which pages are popular, in aggregate.
• Advertising cookies — this site is supported by advertising. Third-party advertisers, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing.

You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies will not stop the site’s guides or live tools from working.

Our guides link to official sources — government portals, the RTA, airlines and other websites — and some pages may include embedded content from other services. Once you follow a link or interact with embedded content, that service’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for how other websites handle your information.

• To run, secure and improve the website.
• To reply to emails and comments.
• To understand, in aggregate, which content readers find useful.
• To display advertising that keeps the site free to read.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers needed to operate the site (hosting, security, analytics and advertising), or where the law requires it.

Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Comments remain published unless you ask us to remove them. You may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.

This website is written for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Significant changes will be noted in the text of the policy itself.
